About Artist:
Jeanette is an artist working full time from her studio in Richmond BC. She began oil painting at the early age of 11 and has been painting ever since. She recieved an art scholarship and honors from Matthew McNair senior secondary school in Richmond and went on to graduate from Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design majoring in Studio Fine Arts, in 1996. Jeanette was awarded four scholarships while at Emily Carr and recieved a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art. She also took the opporunity to attended Art school in Berlin, Germany for one semester, and traveled throughout Europe for the year. Jeanette's medium is oil and acrylic on canvas and acrylic 'reverse painting' on glass. A process beginning with the artists signature- painted backwards, and all the highlights and closest images painted first. She finds this very challenging for once a brushstroke is made it cannot be painted over. Bold and colorful compositions with "lots of drama" is what Jeanette like's most about her work. From figures to flora, her style remains contemporary, recognizable and unique. Jeanette's art can be found in private and corporate collections throughout Canada, USA, England and Germany. She has shown in many solo group exhibitions and has recieved awards and acclamation for her work. Her paintings and articles have been published in BC Home magazine, the View magazine, The Province, The Richmond Review, The Richmond News, and showcased in the Street of Dreams show home.
