About Artist:
Steve, an avid moutain climber for over 50 years, raised his family in the wilds of the Kootenay region of British Columbia until 1990 when moved to the more suburban Vancouver. Between assignments as a Secondary School Science Teacher in northern BC communities, he made his living as a landscape painter. Steve is a 5th generation artist.
Statement:
A lifetime of hiking the lush valleys and meadows and climbing some of the most magnificent peaks in North America from Southern Washington to Northern British Columiba is represented in most of Steve's work. Influenced by other vanishing landscape artists such as Lawren Harris, Emily Carr and Les Weisbrich, he is driven by colour to produce dramatic, bold imagery befittin the spectacular vistas that very few of us get to gaze upon.
